Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway (Lake Kawaguchi)

～河口湖～富士山パノラマロープウェイ

This ropeway runs from Kawaguchiko-han Station by the lake up to Fujimidai Station on Mt. Tenjo. The ride takes only about three minutes. At the top, Tenjoyama Park offers a wide view of Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. The mountain is said to be the setting of the folk tale "Kachi-kachi Yama", so you will see raccoon dog and rabbit decorations around the park.

Visitor information

Opening hours: 9:00–17:00; hours change by season, so check before visiting.
Closed: Open every day, but may stop in bad weather or for maintenance.
Getting there: From Kawaguchiko Station: about 10 minutes by bus or 15 minutes on foot. Use the free prefectural car park by the lake.
Time needed: The ride from the lakeside station (856 m) to Fujimidai Station (1,075 m) takes about 3 minutes.

Tips for Muslim visitors

The ropeway ride to the top takes only about three minutes.
Instead of riding back down, you can walk the hiking trail from the observation deck down through the forest, which takes about 30 minutes.
Natural sites may have few facilities. Bring water, a travel prayer mat and a qibla app, and check the weather; mountains and lakes can be much colder than the city.
Restrooms for wudu can be far apart on trails. Many Muslim travellers carry a small water bottle for wudu.
