Muslim Friendly Japan

How we check information

We only publish a detail when we can point to a source for it.

  • Halal Certified is shown only when a certification body's own page lists the place. We record the certification body and the expiry date, and hide the badge when it expires.
  • Muslim-Friendly Certified is a separate, lighter certificate that some bodies issue. It is not halal certification: alcohol may still be served, and some seasonings or shared equipment may still be used.
  • Japan has no single national halal authority. Each certification body has its own standards, so we always show which body issued the certificate.
  • Other features (pork free, no alcohol, Muslim owned and so on) come from the source shown next to them, such as the restaurant's official website or a reply from the restaurant. They are not a halal certification.
  • Last checked shows when we last confirmed the information.
  • Confirmed by the business means the restaurant replied to us and confirmed its details.

Information can change at any time. Please make your own final decision, and ask the restaurant if you are unsure. If you notice something wrong, please let us know.
