Momiji Corridor (Lake Kawaguchiko)

もみじ回廊

The Momiji Corridor is a path along the shore of Lake Kawaguchiko lined with about 500 maple trees. In autumn the leaves turn red and are reflected in the water. During this season events are held in the area and the trees are lit up in the evening.

Tips for Muslim visitors

  • Autumn colours usually peak in early to mid-November, and the area is busy with visitors and photographers until late autumn.
  • During the festival the trees are lit up daily from sunset (about 16:30) to 21:30, and food and craft stalls line the area.
  • Natural sites may have few facilities. Bring water, a travel prayer mat and a qibla app, and check the weather; mountains and lakes can be much colder than the city.
  • Restrooms for wudu can be far apart on trails. Many Muslim travellers carry a small water bottle for wudu.
  • Plan your visit around prayer times. Below are today's prayer times for Yamanashi and the verified places to pray nearby.
  • Food stalls and shops near popular sights usually do not have halal certification. Check the ingredients, or choose from the verified places on this site.
