Arakurayama Sengen Park (Chureito Pagoda)

新倉山浅間公園（忠霊塔）

Arakurayama Sengen Park climbs the slope of Mt. Arakura in Fujiyoshida. Its red five-storied pagoda, the Chureito, with Mt. Fuji behind it, is one of the best-known views of Japan. The Chureito stands in the grounds of Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine as a memorial to the war dead. From the observation deck you see Mt. Fuji over the city, with cherry blossoms in spring and red leaves in autumn.

Visitor information

Opening hours: Open 24 hours, all year. The pagoda is lit up in the evening until 22:00 (start time changes by month).
Admission: Entry to the park is free at all times.
Getting there: About 10 minutes on foot from Shimoyoshida Station on the Fujikyuko Line.
Time needed: To reach the observation deck, climb 398 steps or walk the gentle slope for about 15–20 minutes. Wear comfortable shoes.
