錦帯橋
Kintaikyo is a beautiful wooden bridge with five arches over the river in Iwakuni, about 200 meters long. It was first built in 1673 and is counted as one of the three great bridges of Japan. A typhoon washed it away in 1950, and it was rebuilt to its original design in 1953. Visitors walk across the arches and can combine the visit with Kikko Park and Iwakuni Castle.
You can cross the bridge 24 hours a day. At night, put the fee into the fee box.
Bridge ticket (round trip): adults 500 yen, elementary school children 250 yen.
A set ticket including the bridge, round-trip ropeway and Iwakuni Castle costs 1,550 yen for adults and 700 yen for elementary school children.
From JR Iwakuni Station, take a bus bound for Kintaikyo (about 20 minutes). From JR Shin-Iwakuni Station it is about 15 minutes by bus.
Hours and fees can change. Please check the official website before you go.
