Iwakuni Castle

Iwakuni Castle

岩国城

Iwakuni Castle is a mountain castle that used the Nishiki River as a natural outer moat. It was built by Kikkawa Hiroie, the first lord of the Iwakuni domain. It was later torn down and the white main tower was rebuilt. From the top you can see the Kintaikyo Bridge and the old castle town, and on clear days the islands of the Seto Inland Sea as far as Miyajima.
