Tips for Muslim visitors
- Regular cars are open with no windows, and the gorge can be chilly even in summer, so bring a jacket.
- The full line takes about 1 hour 20 minutes one way, but in the 2025 season trains ran only between Unazuki and Nekomata. Check the current section before planning prayer times.
- At Kuronagi Onsen along the line, the large open-air bath by the river is mixed-gender; there is also a women-only open-air bath and indoor bath.
- Natural sites may have few facilities. Bring water, a travel prayer mat and a qibla app, and check the weather; mountains and lakes can be much colder than the city.
- Restrooms for wudu can be far apart on trails. Many Muslim travellers carry a small water bottle for wudu.
- Plan your visit around prayer times. Below are today's prayer times for Toyama and the verified places to pray nearby.
- Food stalls and shops near popular sights usually do not have halal certification. Check the ingredients, or choose from the verified places on this site.
