東京ジャーミイ
Tokyo Camii is a mosque in Shibuya City, near Yoyogi-Uehara Station. Its history goes back to 1938, when Kazan Turks living in Tokyo built a mosque next to their school. The old building was taken down in 1986, and the present mosque and Turkish Culture Center opened on 30 June 2000. Designed by Muharrem Hilmi Şenalp in the classical Ottoman-Turkish style, its main prayer area holds about 630 people, and up to 2,000 when other sections are opened.
Open daily 10:00–18:00 for visits. On Fridays, general visits start from 14:00.
5-minute walk from Yoyogi-Uehara Station. From Shinjuku, take the Odakyu Line; from Shibuya, take the Hanzomon (or Ginza) Line to Omotesando and change to the Chiyoda Line.
