Oya History Museum
大谷資料館
The Oya History Museum in Utsunomiya tells the story of the town that grew around quarrying Oya stone. It shows tools used from the days of hand digging to modern machine mining. The highlight is a huge underground former quarry, about 30 m deep and big enough to hold a baseball stadium. Its cool, ancient-Rome-like space is also used for concerts and art shows.
