Kanmangafuchi Abyss

憾満ヶ淵

Kanmangafuchi is a small river gorge in central Nikko. It was formed by an eruption of Mt. Nantai about 7,000 years ago. A quiet path runs along the river, lined with around 70 stone jizo statues; legend says the number changes each time you count them. It is a calm walk away from the busy shrine area.
