Ashikaga Flower Park

あしかがフラワーパーク

Ashikaga Flower Park is a large flower garden in Ashikaga, in the south of Tochigi. It is planted with a wide range of flowers and trees, so the views change with each season. It is especially famous for its wisteria. The park is right next to its own JR station, which makes it easy to visit by train.

Visitor information

Opening hours: 10:00–17:00 (changes by season).
Closed: Closed December 31 and the first Wednesday and Thursday of February.
Admission: Adults 500–2,200 yen, children 200–1,100 yen. The price changes depending on which flowers are in bloom.
Getting there: 3-minute walk from JR Ashikaga Flower Park Station.

Tips for Muslim visitors

You may not bring your own food or drinks into the garden.
Restaurant Wisteria in the park serves Japanese and Western dishes and also serves draft beer.
Ashikaga Flower Park Station gets very crowded when visitors leave, so head to the station early.
Natural sites may have few facilities. Bring water, a travel prayer mat and a qibla app, and check the weather; mountains and lakes can be much colder than the city.
Restrooms for wudu can be far apart on trails. Many Muslim travellers carry a small water bottle for wudu.
