Mt. Fuji World Heritage Centre, Shizuoka
静岡県富士山世界遺産センター
This centre in Fujinomiya, run by Shizuoka Prefecture, explains why Mount Fuji became a World Cultural Heritage site. The building shape is based on an upside-down reflection of Mount Fuji and uses local Fuji cypress wood. Visitors walk up a spiral slope through the exhibits, as if climbing the mountain. The top-floor hall has a great view of Mount Fuji.

Tips for Muslim visitors
- The centre recommends about 1 to 1.5 hours for a visit, depending on your interests.
- Photos and videos are not allowed in the three permanent exhibition zones or the video theatre.
- The cafe serves only light meals and has limited seating; food brought from outside may not be eaten in the cafe space.
- Natural sites may have few facilities. Bring water, a travel prayer mat and a qibla app, and check the weather; mountains and lakes can be much colder than the city.
- Restrooms for wudu can be far apart on trails. Many Muslim travellers carry a small water bottle for wudu.
- Plan your visit around prayer times. Below are today's prayer times for Shizuoka and the verified places to pray nearby.
