Inasa Beach
稲佐の浜
Inasa Beach is on the coast west of Izumo Oyashiro Shrine. In Japanese tradition, gods from all over Japan arrive here every year, and a welcoming ceremony is held in the 10th month of the old lunar calendar. A small island called Benten-jima, with a little shrine on top, stands on the sand. The sunset behind the island is famous, and the beach is part of a Japan Heritage story.

Tips for Muslim visitors
- The large rock Bentenjima on the beach has a small Shinto shrine on top. Visitors can simply view it from the beach.
- Every year in the 10th lunar month a Shinto ceremony to welcome the gods is held here after sunset.
- In summer the beach is popular for swimming.
- Natural sites may have few facilities. Bring water, a travel prayer mat and a qibla app, and check the weather; mountains and lakes can be much colder than the city.
- Restrooms for wudu can be far apart on trails. Many Muslim travellers carry a small water bottle for wudu.
