Sumiyoshi Taisha is the head shrine of about 2,300 Sumiyoshi shrines across Japan. It has long been worshipped for safe sea travel and for the arts and culture. Its main building is the only National Treasure building in Osaka City. The arched Sorihashi bridge over the pond is the symbol of the shrine, and the 100,000 m² grounds have 600 stone lanterns and a 1,000-year-old camphor tree.
