Kokusai Street (Naha)

Kokusai Street (Naha)

国際通り

Kokusai Street is the main shopping street in Naha, about 1.6 km long, lined with about 600 shops and offices, including restaurants and souvenir shops. Its name comes from the Ernie Pyle Kokusai Gekijo, a cinema that once stood on the street. The area was one of the fastest to rebuild after the war, so people called it "The Miracle Mile". Small streets such as Ichiba Hon Dori and Heiwa Dori branch off it towards the market area.
