岡山城
Okayama Castle was built by Ukita Hideie, a vassal of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Its black wooden walls gave it the nickname 'Ujo' (Crow Castle). The original tower was destroyed in an air raid in 1945 and later rebuilt. From the top floor you can see the Asahi River, Korakuen Garden and the city, and the first floor has a Bizen pottery workshop.
9:00–17:30, last admission 17:00. Hours may be extended for events.
Closed December 29–31. The castle tower may also close for bad weather or inspections.
Adults (high school students and older) ¥500; junior high school students free.
From JR Okayama Station take the tram toward Higashiyama for about 5 minutes, get off at Shiroshita, and walk about 10 minutes.
Hours and fees can change. Please check the official website before you go.
