Kyushu Natural Animal Park African Safari

九州自然動物公園アフリカンサファリ

African Safari is Kyushu's only safari park, in Ajimu, Usa City. Wild animals live in a large open area of about 1.15 million square meters. You can drive through in your own car or ride the cage-style Jungle Bus to see the animals up close. There is also a petting zone with smaller animals.

Opening hours

March 1 – October 31: 9:15–16:30; November 1 – end of February: 9:15–16:00. Entry to the Safari Zone ends 30 minutes before closing.

Admission

Adults (high school and older) 2,600 yen; children (age 4 to junior high) 1,500 yen.

Jungle Bus: 1,500 yen per person (age 4 and over). Online booking is available only for some time slots; other seats are first come, first served on the day.

Getting there

By car, about 7 minutes from Beppu-wan Smart IC. By bus, take the Kamenoi Bus 'Beppu Station West Exit – Safari' line.

Good to know

In the Safari Zone never get out of your car; keep all windows closed and doors locked. Open-top cars must switch to the Jungle Bus.
Free parking for 1,500 cars; large buses can park.

Tips for Muslim visitors

The Jungle Bus safari tour takes about 50 minutes.
Eating and drinking are not allowed on the Jungle Bus.
Only some Jungle Bus times can be booked online; other times are sold first-come, first-served on the day.
Aquariums and zoos take a few hours to see. Plan a prayer time in your visit and check the map for quiet spaces.
Snack stands may sell sausages and other pork products. Check the ingredients or bring your own snacks where allowed.
