Ikomasanjo Amusement Park

生駒山上遊園地

Ikomasanjo Amusement Park opened in 1929 around the summit of Mt. Ikoma, 642 m high. Its Flying Tower, about 30 m tall, is said to be the oldest large ride still in use in Japan. Rides such as the cycle monorail give wide views over the Osaka Plain and the Nara Basin. During summer night openings, visitors can also enjoy the night view.

Visitor information

Opening hours: Usually 10:00–17:00; hours vary by season, so check the official calendar.
Closed: Closed every Thursday (except holidays) and in winter (December to mid-March), but open during spring and summer school holidays.
Admission: Entry to the park is free; rides cost extra.
Getting there: The park is right next to Ikoma-sanjo Station of the Ikoma Cable Car. The cable car from Ikoma Station (with a transfer) takes about 15 minutes.

Good to know

You may bring your own food and eat it in the rest areas or on the lawn.
Wheelchairs are not available for rent. There are two nursing rooms inside Kids Land.

In summer the park also opens in the evening, and many people come for the night view.
The Ikomayama View Restaurant, below the flying tower, has a terrace overlooking the Osaka Plain.
