Togakushi Shrine (Okusha)

戸隠神社 奥社

Togakushi is a sacred mountain area northwest of Nagano City with five shrines linked to Japan's creation myths. The innermost shrine, Okusha, is reached by a forest path. After the Zuijinmon Gate, the path is lined with tall cedar trees about 400 years old. The area is also known for soba noodles made from local buckwheat.
