Narai-juku

Narai-juku

奈良井宿

Narai-juku is a post town in the middle of the 69 stations of the old Nakasendo road. Stretching about 1 km from north to south, it is said to be the longest post town in Japan. Travelers once stopped here before crossing the difficult Torii Pass, and the town was very busy. Today it is a national preservation district of traditional wooden buildings.
