金蛇水神社
Kanahebisui Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Iwanuma, south of Sendai. Its name means "Gold, Snake, Water", and a row of stones with snake patterns stands outside the main building. The grounds are known for flowers: a wisteria tree over 300 years old grows by a small pond, and there are peony and rock gardens. A wisteria festival is held every year in mid-May.
The grounds are always open.
Usually free, but 200 yen during the flower festival.
From Iwanuma Station West Exit, take the loop bus (about 15 minutes) to the Kanahebisui Shrine stop, then walk about 10 minutes; or walk about 40 minutes.
Hours and fees can change. Please check the official website before you go.
