Oharai-machi and Okage Yokocho
おはらい町・おかげ横丁
Oharai-machi is a street that runs straight from Uji Bridge in front of Ise Jingu Naiku. Its cobblestone road, about 800 m long, follows the Isuzu River and is lined with souvenir shops, restaurants and old merchant houses. In the middle is Okage Yokocho, where buildings in the style of the Edo to Meiji periods have been moved and recreated. Visitors come here to stroll and try local food.

Tips for Muslim visitors
- On weekends and holidays the roads around Naiku get very congested, so allow extra time.
- Street food and market snacks often contain pork, lard or alcohol (such as mirin or sake), even when this is not obvious. Ask before you buy.
- Some markets and shopping streets ask visitors not to eat while walking. Eat at the stall or in a rest area.
