Niyodo River Outdoor Activities (Niyodogawa Outdoor Center)

The Niyodo River in Niyodogawa Town is known for its clear, glowing blue water. At Niyodogawa Outdoor Center, guides take visitors out by clear kayak or stand-up paddleboard (SUP) to a calm basin near Yasui Gorge. Nearby, the tour company Niyodo Adventure offers canyoning and packrafting around Nakatsu Gorge. Tours are beginner-friendly and all are booked in advance.

Niyodogawa Outdoor Center: hours depend on the season. From October, tours start at 9:30 and 13:00.

Crystal Kayak Tour from 6,900 yen per person (SUP from 6,000 yen, available March to November).
- Getting there
About 50 minutes by car from Ino IC on the Kochi Expressway.
- Time needed
The kayak and SUP tours each take about 2 hours.

Good to know
- Niyodogawa Outdoor Center takes bookings online, in Japanese only.
- Niyodo Adventure runs canyoning and packrafting twice a day from April to October (about 3 hours, from 11,000 yen). Tours are in Japanese or English; minimum age 13.
Tips for Muslim visitors
- The Crystal Kayak Tour and the SUP tour each take about 2 hours, so plan prayer times around them.
- Natural sites may have few facilities. Bring water, a travel prayer mat and a qibla app, and check the weather; mountains and lakes can be much colder than the city.
- Restrooms for wudu can be far apart on trails. Many Muslim travellers carry a small water bottle for wudu.
