Chiran Samurai Residence Garden
知覧武家屋敷庭園
The Chiran Samurai Residences are a street of old samurai houses from about 280 years ago. Stone walls and hedges line the lanes, and seven of the gardens are national scenic spots. Most are dry landscape gardens of stones and clipped plants, and one is a pond garden. The district is protected as a group of traditional buildings.
