Shikoku Aquarium

四国水族館

Shikoku Aquarium is in Utazu Town, Kagawa, close to the Seto Inland Sea. Its exhibits are themed on the waters around Shikoku, such as the Seto Inland Sea, the Pacific Ocean and the Kuroshio Current, and rivers like the Shimanto and Niyodo. It is an easy family visit by train from central Kagawa.

Opening hours

9:00–18:00, last entry 17:30.

Admission

Adults (16 and over) 2,600 yen, elementary and junior high students 1,400 yen, children 3 and over 700 yen, under 3 free.

Getting there

About 12 minutes on foot from the north exit of JR Utazu Station.

Good to know

  • Wheelchairs can be borrowed at the information desk (limited number, no advance booking). There are wheelchair-accessible toilets and one nursing room.
  • Parking near the aquarium is paid and limited; public transport is recommended on busy days.

Tips for Muslim visitors

  • Seeing the aquarium takes about 1 hour 30 minutes.
  • There is no space to eat food brought from outside, so bringing it in is not allowed.
  • Re-entry is allowed if you get a re-entry stamp before leaving at the exit.
  • Aquariums and zoos take a few hours to see. Plan a prayer time in your visit and check the map for quiet spaces.
