Chichu Art Museum (Naoshima)
地中美術館
The Chichu Art Museum is on Naoshima, a small island in the Seto Inland Sea known for modern art. It opened in 2004 and was designed by the architect Tadao Ando. Most of the building is buried underground so it does not spoil the beautiful scenery. Inside, visitors see permanent installations, including works by Claude Monet.
