Jodogahama Beach
浄土ヶ浜
Jodogahama Beach in Miyako City is one of the most famous scenic spots on the Rikuchu Coast, in Sanriku Fukko National Park. Its name means "Pure Land Beach"; a monk named Reikyo compared the view to paradise in the 1680s. White rocks, green pine trees and deep blue sea create a striking scene. Visitors walk along the shore, look at tide pools and enjoy the calm water.

- A boat rental service is available at the beach.

Tips for Muslim visitors
- Allow a 10–15 minute walk from car parks 1–3 to the beach.
- For the Blue Cave (Hachinoheana) boat tour from Jodogahama Marine House, a morning trip is recommended, when the water colour is at its best.
- Natural sites may have few facilities. Bring water, a travel prayer mat and a qibla app, and check the weather; mountains and lakes can be much colder than the city.
- Restrooms for wudu can be far apart on trails. Many Muslim travellers carry a small water bottle for wudu.
