Nagamachi Samurai District
長町武家屋敷跡
Nagamachi is a former samurai district near the center of Kanazawa, which was once the center of the Kaga Domain. Middle- and high-ranking samurai lived here. Many houses still have their original earthen walls, which are covered with straw mats in winter to protect them from frost. Visitors walk the quiet lanes and see old residences and canals.
