Takeda Castle Ruins

Takeda Castle Ruins

竹田城跡

Takeda Castle Ruins are the stone walls of a mountain castle on the 353.7 m peak of Mt. Kojo in Asago. Building began in the Muromachi period on the orders of Yamana Sozen, and the castle was abandoned in 1600. Because it can appear to float above a sea of clouds, it is called the "castle in the sky". Visitors walk a one-way route through the ruins and enjoy views of the mountains.
