Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens & Ropeway

神戸布引ハーブ園

Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens sit on a mountainside about 400 meters high, just above downtown Kobe. A ropeway takes visitors up in about 10 minutes, with views of Nunobiki Falls and the city. At the top there are about 75,000 herb and flower plants in 12 themed gardens. Visitors can walk the gardens, rest in hammocks and enjoy wide views of Kobe and Osaka.

Visitor information

Opening hours: Usually 9:30–16:45, with later hours on some weekends and in summer. Hours differ in the Christmas season (early November to December 25).
Closed: No regular closing day, but it closes for ropeway inspections (about 5 days in autumn and about 3 weeks in January–February).
Admission: From April 1, 2026: adults 2,500 yen, children 1,250 yen. Special fees apply in the Christmas season.
Getting there: About 5 minutes on foot from JR/subway Shin-Kobe Station to the ropeway bottom station, then about 10 minutes by ropeway.
