The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge links Kobe with Awaji Island and is one of the largest suspension bridges in the world, 3,911 m long. On the Kobe side, the Maiko Marine Promenade is a walkway inside the bridge, about 47 m above the sea, with glass floors and an observation lounge. On clear days you can see Awaji Island, Osaka Bay and the Seto Inland Sea. At night the whole bridge is lit up.
Maiko Marine Promenade: usually 9:00–18:00 (until 19:00 in Golden Week and summer holidays). Last entry 30 minutes before closing.
Open every day April–September. October–March: closed the 2nd Monday of each month (next day if a holiday). Closed December 29–31.
An admission fee is charged. See the Maiko Park website for current prices.
About a 5-minute walk south from JR Maiko Station or Sanyo Electric Railway Maiko-koen Station.
