Shirahige Falls
白ひげの滝
Shirahige Falls is a waterfall in the Shirogane Onsen area of Biei, about 600 meters above sea level. Unusually, its water comes from an underground river and seeps out through cracks in the cliff. The white streams fall about 30 meters into the bright blue Biei River below. The falls are lit up every evening after sunset.

- At night, frost-covered trees are lit up.
- Natural sites may have few facilities. Bring water, a travel prayer mat and a qibla app, and check the weather; mountains and lakes can be much colder than the city.
- Restrooms for wudu can be far apart on trails. Many Muslim travellers carry a small water bottle for wudu.
