Tsurugajo Castle (Aizu-Wakamatsu)

Tsurugajo Castle (Aizu-Wakamatsu)

鶴ヶ城(会津若松城)

Tsurugajo, also called Wakamatsu Castle, is the symbol of the Aizu region. It has a long history and has been rebuilt several times. In 2011 its roof was returned to the red tiles it had at the end of the Edo period, which is rare for Japanese castles. Inside the tower, a museum shows swords and armor of the castle's lords, and the park around it has about 1,000 cherry trees.
