Tips for Muslim visitors
- The full trail from Nenokuchi to Yakeyama along the 14 km stream takes about four hours on foot; it is an easy walk without hard climbs.
- Start early in the morning to avoid crowds; traffic can be slow in peak seasons (fresh green mid-May to mid-June, autumn leaves mid to late October).
- Natural sites may have few facilities. Bring water, a travel prayer mat and a qibla app, and check the weather; mountains and lakes can be much colder than the city.
- Restrooms for wudu can be far apart on trails. Many Muslim travellers carry a small water bottle for wudu.
