SCMAGLEV and Railway Park

リニア・鉄道館

SCMAGLEV and Railway Park is a railway museum run by JR Central near Nagoya Port. It shows how railway technology developed, with 39 real cars from steam locomotives to Shinkansen bullet trains and superconducting maglev trains. Visitors can see a maglev car that set a world speed record and one of Japan's largest train dioramas. Children below elementary school age have a play area.

Opening hours

10:00–17:30. Last entry 30 minutes before closing.

Closed

Closed on Tuesdays (Wednesday if Tuesday is a national holiday) and December 28 – January 1.

Open on Tuesdays during spring break, Golden Week and summer vacation.

Admission

Adults 1,200 yen; school children 500 yen; children age 3 and over 200 yen.

Getting there

From Nagoya Station take the Aonami Line to Kinjo-futo Station, then walk 2 minutes.

Good to know

Food and drink from outside are not allowed inside. Bento bought in the park can be eaten in the N700 Shinkansen car displayed outside.
Cockpit simulators are first-come, first-served and cost a small extra fee.

You cannot bring your own food or drink into the museum; bento boxes bought inside can be eaten in a display N700 train car.
