香嵐渓
Korankei is a valley in the Asuke area of Toyota City, stretching from Mt. Iimori to the Tomoe River. It is one of Japan's best-known places for autumn leaves, with thousands of maple trees. It is said the maples were planted by monks in the 17th century. Every November a maple festival is held, and the trees are lit up in the evening.
The Korankei grounds are open at all times. During the festival, Mt. Iimori is lit up from sunset to 21:00.
Entry is free. Parking and the Sanshu Asuke Yashiki museum inside the park cost money.
By public transport, take the train to Josui Station, then the Toyota Oiden Bus, which takes about one hour.
By car, about 20 minutes from Toyota-Kanpachi IC on the Tokai-Kanjo Expressway.
Hours and fees can change. Please check the official website before you go.
