Theme Parks in Japan for Muslims: Prayer & Food Guide
Last checked: 5 Nov 2026
Yes, there are theme parks in Japan for Muslims to enjoy without missing a prayer, but prayer and food facilities vary a lot from park to park. Fuji-Q Highland has a prayer room inside the park, and outlet malls such as Gotemba, Rinku, Shisui, Tosu and Fukaya-Hanazono Premium Outlets have prayer rooms too. The big names, Universal Studios Japan and Tokyo Disney Resort, need more planning. This guide shows what official sources say about each one and how to build a full day around your prayers.
Quick answer: where can you pray and eat?
Here is the short version, based only on official or tourism-board information. Facilities change, so check the official site before you go.
- Fuji-Q Highland (Yamanashi): JNTO's Muslim guide says the park has a prayer room and the food court serves Muslim-friendly food and drinks.
- Universal Studios Japan (Osaka): JNTO notes Muslim-friendly food options at some restaurants, such as Studio Stars Restaurant in the park and Red Lobster at Universal CityWalk Osaka. We have not been able to verify a prayer room in the park, so plan to use a nearby one.
- Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea (Chiba): The official FAQ says there are currently no restaurants or menus that accommodate specific religions, and halal meals are not served at the Disney hotels.
- LEGOLAND Japan, Nagashima Spa Land and Huis Ten Bosch: We could not confirm a prayer room or a Muslim-friendly menu from official sources. Plan to pray at a nearby verified place or in a quiet corner.
- Outlet malls: Several Premium Outlets, Mitsui Outlet Parks and AEON malls list a prayer room on their official pages. These are some of the easiest places in Japan to shop and pray on the same day.
Theme parks in Japan for Muslims: park by park
Universal Studios Japan (Osaka)
Universal Studios Japan (USJ) is the park most Muslim visitors to Osaka ask about. For food, JNTO notes Muslim-friendly options at some restaurants, such as Studio Stars Restaurant inside the park and Red Lobster at Universal CityWalk Osaka, the shopping and dining street outside the gate. Ask staff at the restaurant to confirm what is available on the day.
We have not found an official source confirming a prayer room inside USJ. Many Muslim visitors pray before entering, then combine a USJ day with the Osaka Bay area. The Tempozan Marketplace prayer room, next to Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, is on the 3rd floor, has a place for wudu and air conditioning. You collect the unlocking code at the Kaiyukan information desk on the 2nd floor of the Kaiyukan Entrance Building.

If you also visit Kaiyukan, note that same-day re-entry is free: get a hand stamp at the Service Counter near the exit, so you can step out to pray and come back. Most visitors take about 2 hours to see the aquarium.
USJ's own rules on re-entry and bringing in food can change, and their website is the only place to confirm them. Check the official Universal Studios Japan site before your visit, especially if you plan to bring your own meals. For more Osaka options, see the Osaka prayer rooms list.
Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea (Chiba)
Tokyo Disney Resort is clear about food. Its official FAQ says that "currently, there are no restaurants or food menus that accommodate specific religions," and a separate answer says halal meals are not served at the Disney hotels. So most Muslim families plan their own meals here.
What you can bring matters. According to the official FAQ, if you bring meals with you, you should eat them in the picnic areas. Candy, gum, snacks for small children, water bottles and plastic bottles of non-alcoholic drinks may be brought into the parks. The resort's page for guests with dietary limitations says such guests may bring their own meals into the restaurants, and some restaurants have microwaves you can ask a Cast Member to use. Ask Guest Relations whether this applies to you before you rely on it.
The resort also offers a special dietary menu at some restaurants that leaves out five major allergens: wheat, dairy, eggs, buckwheat and peanuts. This is an allergy service, not a halal menu, so it does not tell you anything about meat, alcohol or cooking methods.
We could not find a dedicated prayer room in Tokyo Disney Resort's official information. Ask a Cast Member or Guest Relations for a quiet place, or plan to pray before and after your park time. Verified prayer rooms elsewhere in Chiba and the Tokyo Bay area include AEON MALL Makuhari New City and Ariake Garden (2nd floor, behind elevator D, open 10:00 to 23:00; use the intercom beside the entrance).

Fuji-Q Highland (Yamanashi)
Fuji-Q Highland is the easiest big amusement park for Muslim travellers. JNTO's Muslim guide says the park has a prayer room and that the food court serves Muslim-friendly food and drinks. Its best-known ride is the Fujiyama roller coaster, which has views of Mt. Fuji, and the Fujiyama Sky Deck is next to it.

JNTO lists two ways to get there from Shinjuku. You can take a train to Otsuki Station (about 60 to 90 minutes) and change for Fujikyu-Highland Station (about 50 minutes), or take a bus from Busta Shinjuku (about 100 minutes).
Around Lake Kawaguchiko you can also pray at Fujikawaguchiko Masjid, a mosque built in 2020. A cafe in the building offers menu options for Muslims, and visitors are welcome. According to the mosque's website, Friday prayer starts at 12:45, so check its site before you go if you are there on a Friday.

LEGOLAND Japan and Nagashima Spa Land (Nagoya area)
LEGOLAND Japan in Nagoya and Nagashima Spa Land in Mie are popular with families. We could not confirm a prayer room or a Muslim-friendly menu at either park from official sources, so plan your prayers around nearby verified places.
Near Nagashima Spa Land, Mitsui Outlet Park Jazz Dream Nagashima lists a prayer room on its official information page. In Aichi, the prefecture's official tourism site lists prayer rooms at AEON Mall Nagoyachaya and AEON Mall Tokoname (near Chubu Centrair Airport), and the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium.

If you fly in or out through Chubu Centrair, the airport has prayer rooms in the Terminal 1 arrivals lobby and the international departures area. The rooms are divided so men and women can pray separately, and washing facilities are in the nearby toilets. See the Aichi prayer rooms list and Mie prayer rooms list.
Huis Ten Bosch (Nagasaki)
Huis Ten Bosch is a large Dutch-style resort town in Nagasaki with gardens, attractions and hotels. We could not confirm a prayer room or halal menu there from official sources. Carry a prayer mat and a qibla app, and ask staff at an information desk for a quiet place.
If you travel through Saga or Fukuoka, Tosu Premium Outlets (see below) has a prayer space inside its Information Center, and the Fukuoka prayer rooms list has more options.
Smaller parks with verified prayer spaces
Some smaller parks are easier for prayer than the famous ones:
- Uzumasa Kyoto Village (Kyoto): a prayer room at the Sumiyagura rest area that may be used freely during opening hours.
- Tobu World Square (Tochigi): a prayer room with wudu facilities; ask at the ticket counter or information center.
- Shiroi Koibito Park (Sapporo): a prayer space on the 2nd floor of the Tudor House.
- Rokkosan GREENIA and Rokkosan Snow Park (Kobe): at GREENIA the room can be used on request, even on the day; at the Snow Park it is open during park hours.

Outlet malls with prayer rooms in Japan
Outlet malls are often more prayer-friendly than theme parks. Many list a prayer room on their official service pages, usually next to or behind the Information Center. Most ask you to speak to staff first, so allow a few extra minutes.
Premium Outlets
- Gotemba Premium Outlets (Shizuoka): JNTO's Muslim guide says to visit the welcome center in the Hill Side area to use the prayer room, and that some restaurants in the mall have Muslim-friendly menu items. Shizuoka Prefecture's halal portal describes the room near the east wing entrance, through the passage next to Swarovski, with one unisex ablution facility, next to the restrooms, ATM and nursing room.
- Rinku Premium Outlets (Osaka): the prayer room is on Sea Side 1F, next to Tully's Coffee. Osaka's official tourism site says the mall has about 250 stores, is about a 6-minute walk from Rinku Town Station, and is linked to Kansai Airport by a shuttle bus.
- Shisui Premium Outlets (Chiba): the prayer room is behind the Information Center.
- Fukaya-Hanazono Premium Outlets (Saitama): next to the Information Center; contact the staff there to use it.
- Tosu Premium Outlets (Saga): a multipurpose space inside the Information Center, next to the food court, that can be used for prayer.
If you are pairing Gotemba with a family day out, Fuji Safari Park is another attraction in Shizuoka Prefecture. We could not confirm a prayer room there, so pray at the outlet before or after.

Rinku is a good last stop before a flight from Kansai Airport. Kansai Airport's Terminal 1 has prayer rooms and ablution spaces separated by gender, both on the 3rd floor and in the international gate area.
Mitsui Outlet Parks
Mitsui Outlet Parks with a prayer room on their official pages include Jazz Dream Nagashima (Mie), Kisarazu (Chiba), Hokuriku Oyabe (Toyama, 2nd floor, next to the hallway) and Sapporo Kitahiroshima (Hokkaido, 1st floor; ask at the information counter).

AEON malls and other shopping centres
AEON's official English pages list prayer rooms at AEON MALL Narita, AEON MALL Makuhari New City and AEON MALL Okinawa Rycom. Aichi's tourism site lists AEON Mall Nagoyachaya and AEON Mall Tokoname. In Osaka, LaLaport EXPOCITY has a prayer room with a place for wudu on 2F, Orange Side; visit the general information desk at Hikari no Hiroba on 1F first.

How to plan a full day around prayer times
A theme park day is long. Doors often open in the morning and close after dark, so you may need to pray Dhuhr, Asr and Maghrib away from your hotel. A simple plan makes this easy.
Before the day
- Check the prayer times for the area on our pages, such as Osaka prayer times, Chiba prayer times or Yamanashi prayer times.
- Find the nearest verified prayer room in the area's prayer-room list, and note how to unlock it (intercom, code or information desk).
- Check the park's official site for opening hours, re-entry rules and food rules on your date.
- Decide your meals. At parks without Muslim-friendly menus, many families pack food or eat before and after.
A sample day
- Before opening: pray Fajr at your hotel and eat a good breakfast.
- Morning: go to the most popular rides first, while lines are shorter.
- Midday: pray Dhuhr in the park's prayer room, or step out to a nearby one, then eat lunch.
- Afternoon: do shows and indoor attractions. Pray Asr when its time comes in.
- Evening: pray Maghrib, then decide if you will stay for evening events or return to pray Isha at your hotel.
Many Muslim travellers choose to combine or shorten prayers while travelling. How you do this is a personal and scholarly matter, so follow your own understanding or ask a scholar you trust.
Praying where there is no prayer room
At parks without a prayer room, ask staff politely for a quiet place. Our Japanese phrases guide has short sentences you can show on your phone. Carry a light prayer mat, a qibla app and a small towel. If you make wudu in a public restroom, wipe the sink and floor afterwards; staff and other guests appreciate it. For more ideas, read how to find a place to pray in Japan.
Friday prayer
If your park day falls on a Friday, check whether you can reach a mosque for Jumu'ah. Fujikawaguchiko Masjid is close to Fuji-Q Highland. Our guide to mosques in Japan explains visiting etiquette and how to find one near your route.
Food at theme parks and outlets
Most theme park food in Japan is not prepared for Muslim diets. Pork, alcohol-based seasonings and shared fryers are common, even in snacks that look safe. When there is no clear information, many Muslim visitors choose seafood, vegetables or packaged food they can check, or bring their own.
- Read labels: packaged snacks list ingredients in Japanese. Our guide to reading food labels in Japan shows the words for pork, gelatin, lard and alcohol.
- Use official halal listings: the TOKYO MUSLIM Travelers' Guide from the Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau and the JNTO Welcome Guide for Muslim Travelers list restaurants and prayer places. In Shizuoka, the prefecture's halal portal covers facilities near Mt. Fuji.
- Ask on the day: where JNTO notes Muslim-friendly options (USJ's Studio Stars Restaurant, Fuji-Q's food court, some Gotemba restaurants), ask staff to show you which dishes they mean.
- Follow the park's rules: at Tokyo Disney Resort, meals you bring should be eaten in the picnic areas unless the dietary limitations rule applies to you.
Tips for families
Theme parks are a family trip for most Muslim travellers, and children change the plan.
- Take turns: in long lines, one parent can keep the place while the other goes to pray, then switch.
- Pack snacks: Tokyo Disney Resort allows snacks for small children and water bottles. Check other parks' rules on their official sites.
- Use nursing rooms and family facilities: at Gotemba Premium Outlets, the prayer room is next to the nursing room. Rinku Premium Outlets offers stroller rental and nursing rooms.
- Plan for water rides and weather: you may get wet on some rides, so a spare hijab, scarf or quick-dry layer is useful. Loose, modest clothes are also more comfortable for walking all day.
- Teach children the plan: tell them when the prayer stops are, so a break for Dhuhr feels like part of the day, not an interruption.
- Leave buffer time: many prayer rooms require you to ask staff first, so add 10 to 15 minutes for each stop.
Tax-free shopping basics (from November 2026)
Japan's tax-free system changed on 1 November 2026, so the advice you read before may be out of date. According to JNTO, the system now works as a refund:
- Pay the full price including consumption tax at a tax-free shop.
- Spend enough: purchases at each shop must total 5,000 yen or more before tax, per day.
- Show your passport when completing the procedure, and keep your receipts.
- At departure, before baggage check-in, scan your passport at a tax-free procedure terminal in the international departure lobby. Green means no inspection is needed; red means you take the goods to the customs inspection area.
- Get your refund after customs confirms the goods are leaving Japan. Complete the procedure within 90 days of purchase.
Special sealed packaging for food and cosmetics is no longer required, but items you use or eat in Japan are not eligible. Each receipt is checked as a whole: if one item from a receipt is missing, none of that receipt's items qualify. At major airports such as Narita, Haneda, Kansai, Chubu and Fukuoka, you can start the procedure on Visit Japan Web. Leave extra time at the airport, and pray before you start, because customs and airlines will not compensate you for a missed flight. Check JNTO's tax-free guide for the latest rules.
Frequently asked questions
Does Universal Studios Japan have a prayer room?
We could not confirm a prayer room inside USJ from official sources. Many Muslim visitors pray before entering or use a nearby verified room, such as the Tempozan Marketplace prayer room next to Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan. Check the Osaka prayer rooms list for others.
Is there halal food at Tokyo Disneyland or DisneySea?
Tokyo Disney Resort's official FAQ says there are currently no restaurants or menus that accommodate specific religions, and the Disney hotels do not serve halal meals. Many Muslim families bring their own food and eat it in the picnic areas, as the park's rules require.
Which theme park in Japan is easiest for Muslims?
Fuji-Q Highland is the easiest of the big parks we checked, because JNTO says it has a prayer room and a food court with Muslim-friendly food and drinks. Fujikawaguchiko Masjid is also in the area. Smaller parks such as Uzumasa Kyoto Village and Tobu World Square also have prayer rooms.
Which outlet malls in Japan have prayer rooms?
Official pages list prayer rooms at Gotemba, Rinku, Shisui, Fukaya-Hanazono and Tosu Premium Outlets, and at Mitsui Outlet Parks such as Jazz Dream Nagashima, Kisarazu, Hokuriku Oyabe and Sapporo Kitahiroshima. Several AEON malls list one too. Most ask you to speak to the Information Center first.
Can I bring my own food into Japanese theme parks?
It depends on the park. At Tokyo Disney Resort, meals should be eaten in the picnic areas, and snacks for small children and water bottles are allowed. Rules at other parks differ and can change, so check each official site before your visit.
How does tax-free shopping work now?
From 1 November 2026, you pay the full price in the shop and receive the consumption tax back after customs confirms your goods are leaving Japan. You need to spend 5,000 yen or more before tax per shop per day and complete the procedure at the airport before baggage check-in, within 90 days of purchase.
What should I bring for a theme park day?
A light prayer mat, a qibla app, a small towel for wudu, packed snacks or meals, and a spare scarf or layer for water rides. Save the address of the nearest prayer room and the area's prayer times page on your phone.
Plan your park day
Theme parks and outlets in Japan are easier than they first look once you know where to pray and what to eat. Start with the prayer times for your area, such as Osaka or Chiba, then pick the nearest room from lists like Shizuoka prayer rooms and Yamanashi prayer rooms. Before you go, read how to find a place to pray in Japan and reading food labels in Japan.
